10 Bookmarked Books for 2016

I have been a lazy kid. And recently, an inconsistent geek. My Goodreads to-read shelf is piling up and my currently-reading shelf has 10s of books started  but forgotten. I am a shame to the bookworms out there. I’ve been reading less and less and watching more instead. It is faster to watch than to read; everything is finished in just 2 hours. But I miss the different kind of excitement and thrill a book character gives you, the suspense of flipping the next page, and the kilig from a single, stupid line. (Book kissing scenes are so much more hardcore lol.)

Now that I’m off school (Yas finally!), I’m cutting down 10 books from my  to-read shelf (one of the books I’m starting now) which I’ll be downing on my free time ’til maybe the first quarter of 2016.

Magnus Chase

You thought I’ll be reading Nicholas Sparks’ cryfest stories huh? Hands up for children’s books! Haha. I’m never too old for this. So okay, I’m married to Percy Jackson in another world (and to a lot of other fictional characters as well.) Nothing beats Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians Series and even if I get disappointed by his other series, I still keep reading them just because. His writing is like a first love I just might never let go of.

Unnatural Creatures

I like having a collection of short stories book with me– for those times I’m stuck in traffic or bored or need to sleep but can’t. I usually finish a book within a day to a week and I hate leaving a good book in the middle of it’s story. So short stories are sort of my fallback when I want to read but not really. It’s a book with less commitment.

Finding Audrey

3. FINDING AUDREY by Sophie Kinsella

So I’ve never read a Sophie Kinsella book despite being a YA fan. There’s always a first time.

Anatomy of A Misfit

4. ANATOMY OF A MISFIT by Andrea Portes

I can’t really tell if I would like this but keeping it here anyway. A review said that Anatomy of a Misfit is Mean Girls meets The Perks of Being a Wallflower. But I wouldn’t want to keep my hopes up. Imagine Logan Lerman and Lindsay Lohan together. *gasps*

5. TAPE by Steven Camden

Judging solely by its synopsis at the back cover, this one’s creepy. It’s Goodreads rating isn’t high either and I think I got sold by the minimal cover design. And I think I remember myself missing Nick and Norah’s Infinite playlist when I came across this book. Not a fan of David Levithan but when he writes with Rachel Cohn, can I just cry?

6. PLAYLIST FOR THE DEAD by Michelle Falkoff

For the past two years, I’ve noticed a lot of books (bestsellers in stores at that) with dead characters in them- or at least in memories of the dead if the book isn’t trying to channel the soul hopping or back from the grave vibe. Not my interest though, but I do want to read one and see where it goes.

I’ve watched the movie but I don’t want to judge it from there. I do like the character vibes I get from the film. Mainly because Rachel’s pink hair is #goals.

8. READY PLAYER ONE by Ernest Cline

“I’m Wade Watts. Welcome to 2044.” Sci-fi. Hmmmm.

9. CARRY ON by Rainbow Rowell

Ahhhh, Rainbow Rowell. You know how and when to pull my heartstrings. This book has been on my to-read shelf since last January, even before it’s release, and I can’t believe I still haven’t read it until now. And there’s supposed to be monsters!

Recommended by a friend. From a hopeless romantic friend to another hopeless romantic (or mainly just hopeless.)

Got any books you think I should read? Would love to kill time and give me more reason to drink coffee.

  3. I’ve been wanting to read Anatomy of a Misfit and Ready Player One for so long now, but I keep buying other books that I never have time to read!!! I must really, catch up, lol. And then maybe then I could try some of the interesting titles you’ve listed. Love and Other Foreign Words sounds promising. 🙂

  4. I haven’t read anything from this list as well. Haha! I’m running out of books that I want to read so maybe I’ll pluck all of these. I’m especially curious about Rick Riordan’s new book. That’ll be my first read for 2016. Here’s to bookworms who are too busy/distracted to read, lol.

Ps. Percy Jackson’s mine, but we can share, I guess. LOL.

  5. Ready Player One is my life story. I gushed over that book and I reread it multiple times. 😍😍😍😍
