Quick Update & Feelings & Other Stuff

By feelings and other stuff, I mean Cole Sprouse and Cole Sprouse.
I’m making up excuses on being able to share this well–everywhere. You might have gone through some of my old posts with a photo (or more) of Cole Sprouse in it because let’s just say I like like him. I liked him as Cody in the Suite Life of Zack & Cody (I liked Cody more than Zack!), and I liked him even more after the series–how he pursued his passion, why he and Dylan parted ways with Disney, and he is an amazing photographer, okay?

January Haul and Beauty MNL Review

January Haul

Ending the first month of the year broke. 😂😭
So I’m one of the girls who hate shopping. It’s not the shopping I actually hate–but the hassle of going to the mall, the traffic, parkings are always full, the massive amount of people you have to push through inside, and then going home not really finding what you’re looking for. So, in a nutshell, I hate crowded places and malls are one of them. And I praise whoever invented online shopping! I do most of my shopping via clicking and typing in credit card details, and I usually just go out for groceries and to bookstores.

One place I love going to in my real-self-body though is Common Room. And it’s just below where I live! So I usually go on a weekly basis to check out new stuff and sometimes, even in just my pambahay. Located in Dela Rosa St., Katipunan Ave., Quezon City–its a place for makers. Art lovers would want to lock themselves up in here.

Coffee Shop Sessions 2: El Union Coffee

Before my last semester started, we had the chance to go on a mini road trip to La Union– one of my fave have-to-get-away-from-it-all chill place.

You might have heard of this quaint coffee shop from bloggers and writers like Abbey Sy, Mikka Wee, cool kids Samantha Lee, En and An Gonzaga, (so this is becoming a list of my favorite people lol) or may have scrolled through cannot-not-like photos of it on Instagram. Despite slowly coming on the main stream, it still stays genuine and lives up to the hype. Well, at least for me. And also, I’m lucky that all my visits here happen to be when the place is almost empty– an introvert’s simple happiness.

El Union Coffee is located in Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union; just amidst all the hotels / hostels along the surf area in Urbiztondo beach.

When I first went here in 2014, it was my go-to in and from Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel. Now they’re set up in a larger area as a cafe along the highway. El Union is actually one of the reasons I like coming back to LU, aside from the beach that is, which by this time is already a given. It’s just one of those places you leave a piece of yourself behind, maybe a memory or a story, and you want to come back and let that time sink in again. (Side story: LU is my personal unwind space. I went here once and all I did was the usual. I didn’t swim. All I had was my regular school backpack and additional clothes. It was like I just went somewhere to sleep without worries. Far from the city.) So this round, my LU trip group was my family– a thing I wasn’t expecting. It was a normal for me to go here with friends (and I could even go alone), and I never expected them to say yes to come with me to LU. Check my La Union photo diary here.
After checking in at San Juan Surf Resort and dropping our baggages, my brother and I left our parents in the room to rest, and walked down the road to get my much needed caffeine fix after driving for 4+ hours.

Motivational Words To Start Off 2016

Happy 2016! First post for the year… kroooo.. krooooooo…….

I honestly don’t know how to feel about 2016 and the first journal entry I wrote in my planner was just dramatic. So off with that. That was very unmotivational. I crey, sorry. On a very unrelated thought though, I’ve been binge-watching Harry Potter with my brother (who has never read or watched the series like what the actual fck), so I’m in the midst of converting him to a Potterhead and I’m out of nowhere writing this at 1:30 in the morning all the while convincing myself that I should sleep (but obviously can’t) and also me family’s gonna be leaving for a long drive in a few hours for a trip before my last semester as a college student starts. So I don’t know how to feel about that either– on both the last semester and the kaladkarin trip thing. The new year may be messing up my feelings or finally giving me the realization that “Hey dude, now you can’t use your too much feels line” My mind’s both no where and everywhere. Wew 2016 u being tough ey. So that’s that on my first half-week of 2016.

Back to the motivational thing. Maybe if you’re stuck like me (or you’re back at work or in classes) then you could convince yourself of some of these quotes to hustle off for a year start. Scanner’s back in Manila so crappy phone photos instead. And hey, 2015 was awesome, let’s just cross-fingers it’ll be same for 2016.

I just realized that we just finished the 6th HP movie. And now think I know why I’m so dementor-in-the-radius crappy. Dumbledore just died. Oh you already knew that, boohoohoo, spoilers be gone. We should just get on with the last 2 movies so things get happy and Ron and Hermione can go live happily ever after (Still ship her with Draco in fanfics though lol.) And Harry can do whatever it is that he wants (Like he always has.)
How’s 2016 on your end so far?

10 Bookmarked Books for 2016

I have been a lazy kid. And recently, an inconsistent geek. My Goodreads to-read shelf is piling up and my currently-reading shelf has 10s of books started  but forgotten. I am a shame to the bookworms out there. I’ve been reading less and less and watching more instead. It is faster to watch than to read; everything is finished in just 2 hours. But I miss the different kind of excitement and thrill a book character gives you, the suspense of flipping the next page, and the kilig from a single, stupid line. (Book kissing scenes are so much more hardcore lol.)

Now that I’m off school (Yas finally!), I’m cutting down 10 books from my  to-read shelf (one of the books I’m starting now) which I’ll be downing on my free time ’til maybe the first quarter of 2016.

Magnus Chase

You thought I’ll be reading Nicholas Sparks’ cryfest stories huh? Hands up for children’s books! Haha. I’m never too old for this. So okay, I’m married to Percy Jackson in another world (and to a lot of other fictional characters as well.) Nothing beats Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians Series and even if I get disappointed by his other series, I still keep reading them just because. His writing is like a first love I just might never let go of.

Unnatural Creatures

I like having a collection of short stories book with me– for those times I’m stuck in traffic or bored or need to sleep but can’t. I usually finish a book within a day to a week and I hate leaving a good book in the middle of it’s story. So short stories are sort of my fallback when I want to read but not really. It’s a book with less commitment.

Finding Audrey

3. FINDING AUDREY by Sophie Kinsella

So I’ve never read a Sophie Kinsella book despite being a YA fan. There’s always a first time.

Anatomy of A Misfit

4. ANATOMY OF A MISFIT by Andrea Portes

I can’t really tell if I would like this but keeping it here anyway. A review said that Anatomy of a Misfit is Mean Girls meets The Perks of Being a Wallflower. But I wouldn’t want to keep my hopes up. Imagine Logan Lerman and Lindsay Lohan together. *gasps*

5. TAPE by Steven Camden

Judging solely by its synopsis at the back cover, this one’s creepy. It’s Goodreads rating isn’t high either and I think I got sold by the minimal cover design. And I think I remember myself missing Nick and Norah’s Infinite playlist when I came across this book. Not a fan of David Levithan but when he writes with Rachel Cohn, can I just cry?

6. PLAYLIST FOR THE DEAD by Michelle Falkoff

For the past two years, I’ve noticed a lot of books (bestsellers in stores at that) with dead characters in them- or at least in memories of the dead if the book isn’t trying to channel the soul hopping or back from the grave vibe. Not my interest though, but I do want to read one and see where it goes.

I’ve watched the movie but I don’t want to judge it from there. I do like the character vibes I get from the film. Mainly because Rachel’s pink hair is #goals.

8. READY PLAYER ONE by Ernest Cline

“I’m Wade Watts. Welcome to 2044.” Sci-fi. Hmmmm.

9. CARRY ON by Rainbow Rowell

Ahhhh, Rainbow Rowell. You know how and when to pull my heartstrings. This book has been on my to-read shelf since last January, even before it’s release, and I can’t believe I still haven’t read it until now. And there’s supposed to be monsters!

Recommended by a friend. From a hopeless romantic friend to another hopeless romantic (or mainly just hopeless.)

Got any books you think I should read? Would love to kill time and give me more reason to drink coffee.

Rainy Day Playlist

Raindrops playlist

Say you'll stay
Don't come and go
Like you do

I used to wonder why some liked the rain. It’s sad. Mostly, lonely. And not to mention, a hell of a hassle. Then I just stopped hating it. Maybe it’s the cancelled classes. Maybe it’s the bed weather, full sheets and holding on to a half-filled mug. Then again, maybe it’s the mood I used to think I hate – the sad, the lonely, the shared umbrellas and fast paced walks.

Here’s my go-to staying in bed playlist to match the current weather. Stay warm and safe from the typhoon.

You can't please everybody, so stop trying to.
Instead of doing everything, do just one thing.
And do yourself a favor; learn to fucking say no.

I Want What?!

I Want What

More than a wishlist, this is my Saving Up For list– a round down of the things I’ve been coveting for some time now which includes me walking pass by and back a hundred times over the same shop’s window area, drooling on screenshots, reading countless product reviews, and basically just waiting for cash to suddenly rain down on my I-need-this-in-my-life moment.

Sadly, I am not a rich bitch. And this GIF is forever relevant. So I’m posting my “wishlist” publicly as a sort of self motivation, and to shame myself if I, in some circumstance, am not able to fatten up my piggy bank for said things.

Photobook. Working on this one. Planning to order from and finally print my travel photo diaries but the editing and layout is taking forever. It’s mainly inspired by Abbey (She’s obviously one of my life pegs) & Tricie’s Life in Transit 2014 where they documented their 30-day trip around Southeast Asia.

Chucks IIChuck Taylor All Star II. Forever a sneakers girl. And when I found out that they’re revamping my all time classic staple (AND WITH NIKE LUNARLON TECHNOLOGY! YAAAS!), I have to have it. Or my high school spirit would crash down in complete chaos, with remains of only that of ashes of my could have been bliss if only I copped it.

Photoshop Keyboard photoshop-cc-mac-05Protector. And a new Mac Case to go with it. I want a marble one huhu. 1) for functional reasons. This would be very very useful, I think.  2) aesthetics.

Own Domain. Just how mSiteGroundany times have I said to myself that I’m buying this– but up to now, I haven’t. I just can’t really make up my mind on the web host. (Now looking at SiteGround) Haaalp me tech people!

IMG_20150719_000948~01Black Sandals. This two in particular from Sewn. I usually just splurge on sneakers but I do own a few pairs of sandals when I’m not up to constricting my feet. Overused is an understatement for them and I clearly need new ones.

Hard luggage. AHard Luggagelways wanted one. In a bright color so I could easily spot it in the airport baggage carousel. Or at least a luggage cover for my current one. Hopefully, I can save up for one before my next trip.

WacomDrawing Tablet. #artgoals. Was never that good drawing digitally but learning is always fun. (Unless it’s history or something. That’s no fun.) I was always hesitant on buying even if I’ve saved enough money for this before because I kept asking myself if I even have time to use it. Can I buy time along with the tablet?

Fujifilm X-A2. I want/need/want/need a new camera. Y so out of budget?! My DSLR is becoming a nuisance on trips because of the space it’s taking. So bulky. Lately, I always end up using my Canon digicam which I first bought just for waterproof/diving purposes. I want to shoot in RAW again even if post processing does take longer.

lampMetal desk lamp. Pixar feels all over. Before, I was planning to buy a metal stand lamp but it is soooo expensive. My wallet cannot. I cannot. Convincing myself that a desk lamp is sufficient for my werq table. And that it’s A++ for flatlays. Now if I can only have a bigger work desk.

As of now, I was able to cross down two of the many things I’m supposed to buy. Both of which, I’m ecstatic about!

HP2545HP All-in-One Printer. I have this weird thing for office supplies. Gift me a whole set of desk stuff (bond paper rim, stapler, pencil, pens, ink, etc.) for Christmas or my birthday and I would love you. I can finally scan my drawings again. *evil grin*

batch_CambodiaReturn ticket from Cambodia. Remember when I booked a one way ticket to Bangkok? I finally booked a ticket back but *drum rolls* from Cambodia! Holy sweet tapdancing Jesus. I’m making my backpacking dreams happen. I want to say “I cannot wait.” but I honestly have to because I’m still saving up for pocket money, but amazeballs! This. Is. Happening.

So, what are you saving up for?

10 Words to Live By from Alaska Young and Margo Roth Spiegelman

Looking for Alaska x Paper Towns

I’ve been a John Green fan way before the big hype on him, and way before the The Fault in Our Stars movie had girls wishing they had a cancer love story. I’m being a defensive hipster here but in one way or another, you might have felt the same way when something special you’ve kept only to yourself got out and exposed itself naked-with-all-its-glory to the world. And now your favorite book/movie/song/band/heck even your boy-crush is now the fave of n other insignificant squealing girls. *cue Sam Smith’s voice in the background: “I know I’m not the only one.”*

So when somebody recently asked me if I’ve read Paper Towns: “Bitch, I’ve read and reread that book. I’ve inhaled Paper Towns!” Yeah, I’m the one being a bitch here and she probably may have liked the book as much as I did, but still, I’m thinking: it’s the movie. They’re making a movie, it shall be overhyped, MY precious Quentin is played by MY precious Nat Wolff, and Cara Delevingne’s pretty and all but she’s gonna make all the other insignificant girls wail over MY guy. And MY book and MY life. So I shall be here slumped in the sofa, trying to fix my It’s complicated relationship with John Green and his characters.
